First BlackBerry 10 smartphone could launch in Canada on February 28

It is not a new word that Research In Motion (RIM) is preparing to unveil their brand new mobile operating system, BlackBerry 10 for their Blackberry smartphones on January 30 (it is less than three weeks).

Earlier, three out of top four US carriers: Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile confirmed that they would carry the BlackBerry 10 devices on their respective networks. Today, from a newly leaked image (shown above), it is claimed that the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone could launch in Canada on February 28. The image is obtained from Best Buy Canada’s internal inventory system. The image also has revealed that the Blackberry 10 device will be available for $799.99 in Canadian carrier Bell.

Although the BlackBerry 10 hasn’t been launched by RIM, back in December, it was claimed that Rogers Canada appears to have opened up reservation for the BlackBerry 10 devices and they will become the first service providers to carry the BB10 devices on their LTE network. Yesterday, leaked promotional images of the new OS showed off its new features.

When BGR contacted RIM for comment, the manufacturer declined to confirm or deny the launch date and stated “We understand that there is a lot of excitement for BlackBerry 10,” and “We will launch the platform on January 30th and until then we won’t comment on speculation.”

If the leaked date (February 28) is accurate, it is sure that the BB10 smartphones: Blackberry Z10 and BlackBerry X10 will be available in other carriers as well  very soon since around 150 carriers are currently testing RIM’s BB10 devices.
