Today’s a big day for Google fans who have been eagerly waiting for the first ever flagship Smartwatch from Google – the aptly named Google Pixel Watch, that’s been anticipated and hyped up for years, and it’s finally hitting the market in just a week. Along with the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones at the event in New York today, Google finally entered era of smartwatches by raising the curtain to introduce the Pixel Watch, confirming most of the rumors and debunking others. We already learned a lot about the first iteration of Pixel Watch leading up to the unveiling, but as always, there were a few pieces of information that weren’t leaked over the internet. Let’s go over all of the official details right now.
Google’s Pixel Watch has a pretty unique curved design sporting a classic circular watch shape with a dome of glass that makes up the entire face of the watch with , which looks great. Google claims it measures 41 mm wide and is 12.3 mm thick. The device comes with an always-on display (AOD) protected by “scratch-resistant custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass,” and the chassis is made out of stainless steel.
Google’s own WearOS will power the Pixel Watch. It supports a plenty of crazy third party watch face apps. There is a rotating button sits on right side of the watch, which helps for easily scrolling through apps and menus on your smartwatch. So, you don’t need to poke on the tiny screen with your finger every time you operate it. It has a “band secure button” that helps you to remove and lock the band into place, with a sliding move to get the band into the right position. Google has used a very premium and quite soft rubber.
The Google Pixel Watch series is IP68-rated for dust and 5ATM (50 meters) of water resistance, and run Wear OS 3.5. It is also powered by the Samsung Exynos W920 chipset, 1.5GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage. Google says “Pixel Watch can withstand some rain, shallow pools, and sweat from exercise, but it should not be immersed in water for more than 24 hours, used during high-speed or high-impact water sports, or exposed to soapy water or other liquids.”
The Pixel Watch is equipped with a 1.36-inch AMOLED circular display featuring a resolution of 450 x 450 pixels, powered by an Exynos 9110 SoC that’s paired with a Cortex M33 co-processor and 2GB of RAM with 32GB of storage. And yeah, 4G LTE model will be also offered. Other shared specs include Bluetooth 5.0, NFC connectivity, GPS.
The Pixel Watch has deep Fitbit integration a lot of fitness tracking tech. The heart rate sensor will be extremely accurate, able to track a user’s heart rate down to the second. There is a dedicated ECG app which works in accordance with ECG sensor for more detailed heart readings. Other health features are including: fall detection and Emergency SOS, enhanced sleep tracking, a blood pressure sensor.

Here comes the most worrying aspect of this watch. The Pixel Watch comes with a tiny 294mAh battery and Google has confirmed “all-day battery life” in the marketing materials. Yes, the Pixel Watch is just rated for 24 hours of usage. On the other side, the battery life of the Galaxy Watch5 Pro can reach at least 3 days (up to 80 hours). It will last up 30 minutes to 50% of charge, up to 55 minutes to 80%, and up to 80 minutes to 100%.
You can wirelessly charge using a 18W Qi charger. There is a magnetic charging puck which is domed and attaches to the bottom of the device with a USB-C connector on the other end. The actual charge cable has a USB-C connector, that means it is also compatible with existing Pixel chargers.
Google is pricing the cellular Pixel Watch with LTE at $399 (£379, €429), while the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth model costs $349.99 (£339, €379) in the US. You can even snag it for free, if you pre-order a Pixel 7 Pro (If you order it before October 18). Google is offering 6 free months of Fitbit Premium, plus 3 months of YouTube Premium for Pixel Watch buyers.
The Google Pixel Watch will sell in four colors – Champagne Gold case / Hazel Active band, Matte Black case / Obsidian Active band, Polished Silver case / Charcoal Active band, Polished Silver case / Chalk Active band.
We sincerely urge the Android users should have a look at this new product from the one and only Google, who are looking to buy a new smartwatch to use with their Android phone. People like me who isn’t fan of Apple Watch (or any product from Apple) and people who have been in need of a smartphone straight from the Android chef, Google, have high hopes for the Pixel Watch. And of course, the Pixel Watch isn’t looking like the Apple Watch at all. In an early unboxing video, it has already been compared against to the Apple Watch by a reddit user.
