Toshiba had shown off its first Honeycomb powered tablet at CES in January. We had already reported that this tablet is set to ship in June. Now it is actually going to ship.
Earlier we got the report that Toshiba Thrive is priced at $449.99 for 8GB variant. But the company just confirmed the earlier listing went up prematurely and that the price was wrong.
Anyways now Toshiba Thrive will indeed debut as the Toshiba’s first tablet for the US market with pre-orders beginning June 13th at Best Buy. The 10.1-inch tablet runs Honeycomb which will come in three variants, 8GB for $429, 16GB for $479, and 32GB for $579.
Toshiba Thrive tablet comes with Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS, powered by a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 1GB RAM, 5 megapixel camera with capability to record video in HD, and an additional 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling, USB 2.0, HDMI port, micro-SD card port for memory expansion support. It is also having a 10-inch LCD screen with 1280 x 800 pixels of resolution, stereo speakers with Toshiba sound enhancements, 7 hours of video playback. And, it also has a removable battery that’s rated up to seven hours of continuous HD video playback. It also promises to recharge up to 90 percent in an hour and a half.
Another Toshiba Tablet known as Regza is also set to release in June at Japan.
