The Samsung Galaxy S II has been selling like hot cakes in the rest of the world and most of you are still waiting for your opportunity to get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy S II in the United States. A few days ago, we learned that Samsung would be making a major product announcement on August 29th in New York and it seems almost a certainty that GS2 news will be covered at that event. We thought Sammy will take the wraps off of Galaxy S II handsets that will soon launch on Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. But unfortunately, a report from WSJ is saying that Verizon won’t be in the list of these U.S. carriers, which are expected to launch their variants of Galaxy S II handset.
Various trusted sources have also confirmed that there won’t be Verizon branded Galaxy S II for this year, but just imagine what sales would have looked like if the S II featured 4G LTE connectivity. A few weeks ago, Motorola CEO, Jha has also confirmed that Motorola Droid Bionic would be the first handset equipped with dual-core chipset equipped to release on Big Red Network with 4G LTE connectivity on the board. On a positive side, we also heard that Verizon will soon be launching an Android OS powered Samsung device that’s nearly identical, spec-wise, to the Galaxy S2. We’ve no details about the particular handset, which is making its way to Verizon Wireless. Recently, we’ve been hearing about the Verizon branded Samsung Stratosphere and the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS filled Nexus Prime is also rumored be carried by Verizon. Verizon spokesperson Brenda Raney have mentioned that Verizon will “have an extensive portfolio that offers customers a great variety of devices, including the Samsung Droid Charge.” Anyhow, on August 29th, Samsung will set the record straight, telling us exactly what GS2 hardware the US will be getting, which carrier will be getting it. Hopefully, Verizon will be in the list of the carriers along with the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. Just 3 more days to go.
