A few hours ago, Samsung released Gingerbread source code for the Verizon branded Samsung Droid Charge handset. Now, we came across an announcement from Verizon, which will make you, the owners of Droid Charge feel better. Verizon has posted the details relating to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update on the support webpage of its official website and confirmed that the update is coming soon. The update is bearing the new build number i510.EP4. Along with Android 2.3 Gingerbread build, the new firmware update will bring a set of improvements, overall stability, speed increases, bug fixes and many more unknown features. The chnagelog of the 119MB update is as follows:
# Download Manager App.
# You can take advantage of a new “Running” tab that shows off a list of active applications and the amount of storage and memory used by each.
# Addition of the new widgets, icons and screens with refreshed colors.
# Data encryption for both the internal and SD card memory.
# Improved word selection and copy functionality.
# Press-hold on the screen – to select a word; Press twice – to copy or cut the word and then paste it.
# Updated Calendar options.
# Addition of the “Pass”, “Wait”, “Password” features into the Voice Mail speed entry.

Support for the Message Signature Setting.

According to a leaked memo, Big Red network will be rolling out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Droid Charge from November 29th.
