Sprint is yet to release its first set of LTE capable handsets – Samsung Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper, which have been officially announced earlier this year and may release on April 15th. Sprint is also rumored to launch LTE capable handset on April at a joint event. We already reported that the new HTC One X may be heading to Sprint called the Jet. It look like another Windows Phone is set to join Sprint’s upcoming Android phones later this year.
SprintFeed website (who are connected with Sprint’s insiders) is claiming that Sprint is planning to launch a new LTE capable Windows Phone this fall. According to the previous rumors, Sprint is expected to launch a Windows Phone 8 aka Apollo OS running handset, powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 dual-core processor. Sprint has reportedly shared its LTE specifications with Nokia. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 processor has already made impressive performance on Android handsets by beating Exynos processor equipped Samsung Galaxy S II and TI OMAP powered Motorola Droid 4 handsets in many benchmarking tests.
Due to Sprint’s limited infrastructure of LTE network, Sprint may launch its first Windows Phone in the 2nd half of this year and SprintFeed‘s sources have mentioned that a fall release has been rumored for some time now.
