Rumors and leaks about the Oppo Reno8 T series of phones have been doing rounds over the web for at least a few months now. This series consists of two phones with two different chipsets at heart – the Oppo Reno8 T 4G, and Oppo Reno8 T 5G. These both handsets are supposed to be launched on tomorrow, February 3. But the manufacturer has silently unveiled both these phones on its Vietnamese based official website.
The Oppo Reno8 T with MediaTek chipset is an LTE capable smartphone with a 100MP camera, while the Qualcomm chipset powered Reno8 T is a 5G capable handset with a 108MP primary camera on the back.
Oppo Reno8 T (4G)
The Reno 8T 4G is an ultra affordable smartphone which will arrive with decent specifications. Specs wise, it has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display that offers FHD+ resolution with up to a 90Hz refresh rate, and comes equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The panel comes with 180Hz touch sampling rate, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The LTE-only is running on the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, which is coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM @ 2133MHz 2 x 16-bit, and 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage, which can be expandable using microSD card slot.
For the optics, Oppo Reno 8T 4G has a 100MP primary camera, joined with 2MP depth camera, and 2MP microscope unit on the back side. Up the front, there’s a 32MP shooter for handling selfies and video calls. The entire handset will be fueled by a 5,000mAh battery with support for SuperVOOC charging at 33W speeds. Oppo claims the device can be charged up to 50% in 30 mins.
The remaining specs are including Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 3.5mm headset jack, USB 2.0 Type-C, NFC, and the graphics will be handled by Mali-G57 MC2 GPU onboard. It naturally boots Android 13-based ColorOS 13 out of the box.
Oppo Reno8 T 5G
The Oppo Reno8 T 5G capable device comes packed with some upgraded specifications with better screen and even faster charging over its 4G capable variant. It features a 6.57-inch curved (2.5D) OLED panel with FHD+ (2412×1080) resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, 1.07 billion colors, and can reach up to 950 nits peak brightness.
It measures 7.7mm thick and weighs around 171g. Inside, it draws its powers from Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 octa-core processor paired Adreno 619 GPU. Memory wise, it has an 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB UFS 2.2 storage, which is also expandable using microSD card slot.
For photography, the device ships with 108MP main camera which has AF and an f/1.7 aperture, coupled with a couple of 2MP sensors – one is handling for macro images, the other for depth data. The 32MP shooter at the front is located in a centered punch hole this time for taking selfies and handling video chats.
Under the hood, it comes with a 4,800 mAh battery, which also has SuperVOOC fast charging capability at 67W speeds and its charging adapter will be supplied in the retail box. Oppo claims the device can be charged fully in just 44 mins. It also has Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, USB 2.0 Type-C, NFC, but it doesn’t have 3.5mm headset jack. The 5G capable Reno8 T handset will also be shipped with the latest Android 13 OS based ColorOS 13 UI customizations.
Price & Availability
Oppo Reno8 T 5G is available in Starlight Black and Dawn Gold, priced at VND 9,99,0000 (US$ 425 / Rs. 35,008 approx.) for the 8GB + 256GB variant. Meanwhile, the Oppo Reno8 T 4G is being sold in Starlight Black and leather Sunset Orange colors with leather texture on the back, priced at for VND 8,490,000 (US$361 / Rs. 29,752 approx.) for the 8GB + 256GB version. The 5G capable Oppo Reno8 T is scheduled to launch in India tomorrow.
