Over the past few weeks, several details about the affordable Google Pixel 7a phone have emerged, and Google’s latest teaser even confirmed its existence. Now, the Pixel 7a has appeared on Geekbench, revealing that it is indeed powered by the Tensor G2 chipset, as previously rumored.
Recently, the “lynx” codenamed device, believed to be the Google Pixel 7a, has appeared on Geekbench with a single-core score of 1,380 points and a multi-core score of 3,071 points. The Geekbench listing confirms that the Tensor G2 chipset on the Pixel 7a will be paired with 8GB of RAM. As expected, the device will also run on the latest Android 13 operating system.
Several press materials of the upcoming mid-range Google Pixel 7a have recently leaked online, revealing that the phone is equipped with specs that are almost on par with the flagship Pixel 7. In fact, the phone’s specs are so impressive that it can be considered a high-end device. Roland Quandt has provided a summary of the specs that were leaked.
The Pixel 7a marks several firsts for the “a” series, boasting a high-resolution primary camera (64MP), a high refresh rate display (90Hz), and wireless charging capabilities (18W). Compared to its predecessor, the 6a, the Pixel 7a represents a significant upgrade. Furthermore, the phone comes remarkably close to the specs of the Pixel 7 flagship, which is less than a year old. Notably, both phones are equipped with the Tensor G2 chipset.
In addition, the Pixel 7a will also mark the debut of wireless charging support and Face Unlock feature in the Pixel A series. Moreover, the device is set to come in stunning new colorways such as blue and coral, in addition to the usual color options.
The Pixel 7a’s display is just slightly smaller than the one found on the Pixel 7, measuring 6.1 inches versus 6.3 inches, but both screens are FHD+ AMOLED panels with a 90Hz refresh rate. The 7a is also expected to come with a high-resolution main camera for improved Super Res Zoom, reportedly featuring a 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor. With the addition of wireless charging, the differences between the Pixel 7 and 7a will be minimal.

The Pixel 7 was priced at $599 when it was released last year, and it often goes on sale these days. The Pixel 7a is anticipated to be priced at $499, which is $50 more than the previous 6a model. This price increase is not surprising, considering the significant upgrades that come with the new model.
The official poster provides a sneak peek of the upcoming Google Pixel 7a in a new blue color variant and confirms its launch on May 11. The poster also suggests that the phone will be available for purchase or pre-order shortly after its unveiling at the Google I/O event on May 10. This is a departure from the launch of the previous Pixel 6a, which was released in India in late July of last year.
