Back in May, Asus has announced that its Android Honeycomb powered Acer Iconia Tab A500 tablet will get Android 3.1 Honeycomb update in June month along with the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. But unfortunately, there is no sign of the update until now. while the Eee Pad have already updated to Android 3.1 in early June. Now, we came to know that according to the company’s German Facebook page, Acer Germany has announced that the Iconia Tab A500 is scheduled to be upgrading with Android 3.1 update on July 5th. Motorola Xoom was the first tablet, which has already upgraded with the Android 3.1 Honeycomb update. Acer A500’s sister tablet, the 7-inch Honeycomb powered Acer Iconia Tab A100 is also set to release very soon. There is no official confirmation yet whether or not the A100 will be shipping pre-installed with Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS, which is a tailored version of the Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS for 7-inch editions. Dual-core processor powered Icona Tab A100 will be priced at $349.99.
Coming to Acer Iconia Tab A1500, it has got a 10.1-inch screen with 800 x 1280 pixel of resolution, Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor, and 16GB of storage onboard. The front camera is a 2MP unit to make video calls and the rear camera has 5-megapixels. There is a 1GB RAM, micro-SD card slot support for memory expansion up to 32GB, Need for Speed: Shift game pre-loaded, 1080p video output over the built-in HDMI port, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity, Android Market, and the 3260mAh battery promises to last up to eight hours of use per charge.
After upgrading to 3.1 Honeycomb update will get many changes in OS — widgets can be customizable in terms of horizontal or vertical stretching. USB host support so that you can pair up the gaming controllers, mice, keyboards, etc. with it. The update also brings Google Music Beta along with new video editing apps like "Movie Studio", Movies and Books apps etc. The update also enhances the browsing experience by making the browser more faster.
