Earlier this month, Amazon introduced the new Kindle 2022 e-book readers. Today, the giant e-commerce site has come up with ‘all-new’ 12th gen Fire HD 8 tablet lineup. Amazon has finally revamped its 8-inch tablets lineup which were launched in 2020. Amazon has introduced the new Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 8 Plus tablets with a new feature called “Tap to Alexa.” That means this new model tablets let you to use Alexa without talking. This new feature will be very useful and helpful for the people who have speech disabilities.
Amazon says the design of these new tablet lineup is thinner, lighter and more durable than its 2020 predecessor. Amazon also claims the new 2022 Fire HD 8 delivers 30 percent faster performance through a new six-core processor (clocked at up to 2.0 GHz speeds) compared to its quad-core two year old predecessor.
The new Fire HD 8 tablet has a 8-inch HD screen with 1280×800 pixel resolution, 2 gigabytes of RAM, 32GB/64GB storage which is expandable tp to 1TB, a pair of 2MP camera on each side of the device, fueled by a battery which gives you longer 13-hour battery life. Amazon also claims ‘Fire HD 8 is twice as durable as Apple iPad mini (2021).’
The all-new Fire HD 8 Plus 2022 tablet also boasts the same features of the basic model, but it has 3GB RAM, 5-megapixel camera on back side to shoot 1080p videos, and a 2-megapixel camera on front side to make video calls and it also offers significantly faster wired charging and wireless charging capabilities.

Two more new Fire tablets have also been announced, to be specific for kids. The upgraded Fire HD Kids and Fire HD Kids Pro are obviously sharing all features of the non-kid friendly Fore HD 8 and Fire HD Plus tablets respectively. Both Kids versions will be covered against any type of damage for two years “worry-free” warranty right after after the purchase. You can also take advantage of the 1-year Amazon Kids+ subscription.

All the new Fire HD 8 tablet models including Kids-friendly versions are now available for pre-order through Amazon website to release in in the US, UK, Germany and Japan markets. You can buy the new fire HD 8 tablet for $99.99, while the Fire HD 8 Plus retails at $119.99. The rugged Fire HD 8 Kids model is priced at $150, and you can buy the Disney Princess- and Mickey Mouse-themed variant for $160. The Kids Pro model kicks off at $150.
