Apple Releases iOS 16 Update [Download]

The latest version of Apple’s operating system, iOS 16 is now available to download after the beta testing process went from June until September.

After months of leaks that gave us an early peek at Apple’s latest iOS 16 software at its WWDC 2022 event earlier in June, iPhone users can now download it on their phones. Apple has already covered dozens of iOS 16 features at its WWDC 20222 event and it released an early version of the software to developers. Apple generally releases new iOS versions alongside new iPhone versions. With the new iPhone 14 models set to release on September 16th, Apple decided to roll out iOS 16 early.

iOS 16 isn’t a massive update and Apple keeps it fresh without introducing so many new features at once. But it packed some decent features with an updated Lock Screen experience which is the most notable change in this build. After installing iOS 16, users can create multiple lock screens with different wallpapers, fonts, and widgets. Apple includes new wallpaper collections for Pride and Unity, as well as new Weather and Astronomy collections. You create wallpapers using emoji characters and photo shuffle. Third-party apps can also integrate with Lock Screen widgets.

The users can take advantage of the new algorithm that lets you lift subjects from your photos (separating backgrounds). iOS 16 also lets you edit and delete iMessages. Other changes to Messages:

Mark as unread
Recover recently deleted messages
SharePlay via Messages
SMS Tapbacks on Android
Audio message playback: fast-forward or rewind audio messages as you listen

The new update also brings improved Focus modes, an iCloud Shared Photos Library for families, major improvements for apps like Mail, Home, and Wallet, and much more. Apple also announced it will bring some new features called “Clean Energy Charging” and iCloud Shared Photo Library later this year. Apple said “Clean Energy Charging aims to decrease the carbon footprint of the iPhone by optimizing charging times for when the grid is using cleaner energy sources”
