Right after the official announcement of the new Apple iPhone 4S, for Apple developers, the Cupertino company has seeded the iOS 5 GM Gold Master Candidate along with SDK for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and is available to download from the Apple’s developer website. If you have a membership of the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program, you can download iOS 5 GM firmware for iPhone 4, 3G, 3GS, iPad, iPod Touch 2G and iPod Touch 3G now! GM (Gold Master) is a version that can be considered equal to the final. You need to register your device ID with a Dev Account to use it. The regular users will have to wait a few days until October 12. The iOS 5 GM build is version 9A334. Apple has also released Xcode 4.2 Gold Master build 4D199 to developers. The iOS 5 will launch with iCloud sync and services, while the iTunes Match (for $24.99 per year) will become available for the US users in late October. iOS 5 will bring several new features including a new notifications system, iCloud, Siri Assistant feature, Notification Center, Twitter integration, Newsstand, Reminders, iMessage, wireless sync and activation, and others. AirPlay will be enabled by default for video content in applications and websites.

Apple has stated that iOS 5 GM is not available via over the air software update, so users must install the new software using iTunes 10.5 beta 7 or later.

So lets say I restore my iphone to 5.0 GM, would my phone receive cellular signal?
Because from what i’ve heard, the previous 5.0 betas did not allow phones to receive signal (unless you were jailbroken and did a little tweaking).
I don’t want to jailbreak. Not until its untethered.
