Good news for Archos G9 tablets’ owners. The manufacturer has officially announced that have started pushing out the most awaited Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS update for their Archos 101 G9 and Archos 80 G9 tablets. The update is rolling out through the over-the-air (OTA) upgrade process. Along with the Android 4.0.3 ICS goodies, the new firmware update is also bringing a set of notable tweaks and new features for both tablets.

When the new update is available in your region, a notification will appear as the letter “A”. Then you can select the notification to start the downloading progress OTA update and after finishing the downloading process, select “Yes” button to install it when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the Android 4.0.3 ICS OS upgrading process on your Archos G9 tablet. If teh update fails to hit your tablet, you can also also force the update by heading over to Menu –> Settings
–> About Device –> Firmware Update and then follow the instructions.
How To Manually Download Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich Update On Archos 101 G9 and 80 G9 Tablets
Download Android 4.0.3 ICS Firmware Update File (hit the link) from Archos website and install it on your device.
Instructions below.
# Download “firmware_archos_it4.aos” file from the above link, which is weighing 186MB of size.
# Connect the Archos G9 tablet to your PCS machine using an USB cable and select "Mount" on your Archos device and wait a few seconds for the ARCHOS to be detected by PC as a ‘Hard Drive’ in Windows Explorer.
# Open this Hard Drive and you will see the various Archos folders inside. Now, copy and paste the downloaded update file (.aos file) into this area. Don’t paste it into any of the Archos folders.
# Disconnect the Archos G9 tablet from the PC and it will automatically recognize the update and it will ask you to install it. Accept it follow the on-screen instructions to finish the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS upgrading process successfully.
