Asus Transformer Gets 9.2.1.17 Update

Asus rolled out the long-awaited Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update for its original Eee Pad Transformer TF101 tablet. According to the previous reports, the ICS update for Asus TF101 has some annoying issues. Users have been reporting about the random reboots and unstable Wi-Fi connectivity issues. It looks like the latest firmware update fixes the random reboot issues of the tablet. The manufacturer has started rolling out the new firmware update for the Asus Transformer TF101 tablet, bumping up the build number up to 9.2.1.17-20120312 from 9.2.1.11-20120221.

The new update 9.2.1.17 fixes the random reboots and the tablet will be booted little quicker, faster screen transitions, faster app loading and you will also observe louder volume in all apps. The new update bumps the Bluetooth version up to v8.28 from the old version v8.27. The update will also enable USB debugging, disconnect network during sleep, a lot more info about battery usage and storage usage. You will also see a new Android Man logo with an open chestplate.

Asus Transformer TF101 users should be seeing the notifications on your tablets asking you to accept the new firmware update. If the update hasn’t yet hit your Pad, you can go to Settings –> About Tablet –> System Firmware Update and then press the Check for Updates button –> If you found the update, follow the on-screen instructions and let the upgrade process finishes successfully. After updating your device, you will notice the following changes in the software version of your Asus Transformer tablet:

Build Number: IML74K.US_epad.9.2.1.17-2.120312.
Bluetooth: v8.28.
Android OS version remains at v4.0.3.

Please keep in mind this update breaks root. But, the OTA Rootkeeper app will bring it back and the app can be downloaded from Android Market aka Google Play.
