We’ve already heard from a Motorola Employee that Moto will be releasing the much awaited Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Motorola Droid 2 and Droid 2 Global smartphones ‘before the end of the third quarter or sooner’. Motorola has already released Gingerbread update for the Motorola Droid X and Droid Pro handsets a couple of weeks ago but there was no signs of the update roll out for the Droid 2 Global and Droid 2 users. However, yesterday folks over at Droid-Life spotted the Verizon’s support page for the Gingerbread update for Droid 2 Global handset owners. Motorola will initially roll out the update to select users as part of the soak test and will seek the reviews and bug reports from the users. Depending upon the feedback, the company will then decide on when to release the update to all the Droid 2 Global handsets.
The Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS software update (Version 4.5.600.A956.Verizon.en.US) will roll out to select (invited users) starting this week, and will include several enhancements which you can see in this PDF available on the Verizon Wireless official website. Expect the update to roll out very soon on your Droid 2 Global handsets. The original Droid 2 owners will have to wait a bit more.
Hit the source link after the break to learn more about the update.
