About two months ago, Verizon and Motorola have launched the Motorola Droid 3 officially and the handset has been plagued with issues since its launch time. Looks like, the carrier is coming with a major update, which is carrying a lot of bug fixes and moreover, this update brings much needed Google Talk video chat feature for the Droid 3 handset. The update will get you the new build number 5.6.890.XT862.Verizon.en.US for your handset. Well, there’s been no official word from Verizon, but, thanks to our friends at Verizon, we now have the list which details those “bug fixes and enhancements” for the Droid 3. The update will be rolling out at any time and it will contain the following enhancements and bug fixes.
# Addition of Google Talk Video Chat.
# Pre-loaded V CAST Media Manager app.
# Improved audio clarity fro incoming calls and navigation.
# No more urgent notification from Visual Voice Mail.
# Enhanced Geo-tagging feature.
# Enhanced V Vast App Store menu.
# Addition of the Streaming video within the NFL mobile app.
# VZ Navigator stability improvisations.
# Data widget connection and stability improvisation.
# City ID will display country name when receiving international calls.
# Display screen no longer flickers.
# Addition of multi-shot capability and Improved camera shutter speed.
# Improved battery life.
# The Startup animation sound will no longer play if the device kept in “Silent mode”.
# Addition of Guided Tours for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
# Enhanced functionality and stability of the Swype feature.
# Device will not overheat after prolonged use of camera/camcorder.

You might be seeing the notification alerts on your phone regarding this new update asking you to accept it to install. If you don’t feel like waiting, though, you should be able to pull the update down manually. This can be done by going to Menu –> Settings –> System Updates > Download –> Install Now –> and tap the OK button. The update is 57.6MB in size. After successfully installed the latest update, you should get the new software version 5.6.890.en.US version on your Droid 3 handset (see the below screen shot).
We’re glad to see Verizon continuing to pump out the software updates for its devices continuously. So Droid 3 owners, go ahead and hit up the “System Updates” section on your handset and get to downloading!

they need to get the start up sound completely off – droid3 will inadvertently turn back on after a few minutes – that problem needs to be fixed
