Leaked Galaxy S23 Ultra low-light, zoom camera samples confirm better processing

It looks like early shipment of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra units have made it into people’s hands. Just a while ago we reported to you about Edwards Urbina, who was able to get a retail unit, specifically in Nicaragua, where we recently heard a bunch of Galaxy S23 Ultra units had appeared for early sale. He has published the first authentic unboxing video of the Galaxy S23 Ultra over Twitter. He has also shared a bunch of low-light and ultra zoom camera samples that he claims are from the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s brand new 200MP camera sensor.

These camera samples are confirming that the new ISOCELL HP2 sensor is turning out to be a beast in nighttime photography and ultra zoom capabilities. The prolific tipster, Ice Universe also claims that the new HP2 ISOCELL is the best sensor made by Samsung, Better than any ISOCELL.

You can check out some night mode samples that were taken from the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s new 200MP main camera. He has published comparison posts showing night shots taken with Night (even Auto) mode disabled and enabled, which came clean and sharp even in the darkest regions. You can also observe there’s a huge difference between the clarity of the two images in both modes. The images of the plant  looks very good with the brick wall being incredibly detailed even in a dark environment, by managing to brighten the overall exposure nicely in lower noise, and produces more accurate colors in low-light situations.

Urbina also shared some ultra zoom samples from the Galaxy S23 Ultra, showing off the true telephoto capabilities at 30x zoom or even higher. As the samples aren’t full resolution, we are not able to judge their quality, but the samples are still impressive. Ice Universe also feels that the 30x of S23 Ultra is better than S22 Ultra, and the detail quality of S23 Ultra Daily (12MP) photos has been significantly improved. You can check out the zoom images on Urbina’s feeds attached below.

In the zoom samples of a satellite dish and a streetlamp, the image stays crisp. Even though, the lighting conditions are also not ideal, and these sample photos are still impressive, which implies that that Samsung has significantly improved mobile photography for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and it also seems that Samsung is trying to make improvements via software tuning rather than hardware tweaks. He also posted two comparison posts showing zoom shots taken using the ×30 zoom of the S23 Ultra vs Pixel 7 Pro handset. Galaxy S23u is clearly dominating the Pixel phone in this case.

To recall, the Galaxy S23 Ultra ships with a 200MP primary shooter with F1.7 aperture, OIS, and Super QPD autofocus, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and two 10MP telephoto sensors, one with 3x optical zoom and the other boasting a periscope design with 10x optical zoom capabilities.
