Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 could feature squarish cover display

We recently learned that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5‘s cover display is tipped to be larger than Oppo Find N2 Flip‘s outer display. Back in December 2022, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a cover display larger than 3-inches, but didn’t provide an accurate number for the display size. The prolific tipster Ice universe also felt the same and revealed that the next iteration of the Z Flip model will have a larger, more usable cover display, and larger than Oppo Find N2 Flip’s 3.26″ screen, which many Z Flip users have been demanding.

In today’s tweets, Ice also revealed the screen size image of the cover display of the next gen Flip phone. As per his tweet, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a screen like the square below. He also shared another tweet and posted a self-created render of a possible cover display design, which looks very cool. It revealed what kind of dimensional changes Samsung will make in the Galaxy Z Flip 5 for this year. As per the image, the display will have a squarish aspect ratio (just like the razr 2023) making it much more useful than the tiny 1.9-inch landscape-oriented display on the Galaxy Z Flip 4. To be precise, a bigger squarish display lets users perform various tasks easily, without unfolding their phones. It will also have a different hinge design that should reduce the visibility of the seam.

To recall, Samsung’s first Galaxy Z Flip was launched with a tiny cover display that expands just 1.1 inches. Later the Galaxy Z Flip 3 came with a little upgrade that goes up to 1.9-inch Super AMOLED cover display. Last year, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 launched with the same 1.9-inch outer display, upsetting the consumers who had expected a size upgrade, who have been having a problem with the tiny size of this outer display.

On the other side, Motorola is also looking to respond with an even larger display for the next gen Razr 2023 flip phone. Based on the pics released by Evan Blass, it will sport a squarish display, obviously much larger than the size of the previous generation Razr 2022.

In another article, we reported that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will come with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage. The base 128GB storage variant will likely use a UFS 3.1 chip, just like the Galaxy S23’s 128GB model. The Korean tech giant is also preparing 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants of the forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is also rumored to ditch the S-Pen.
