According to a credible source, Max J, Samsung is planning to upgrade the outer cover display of its upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5. We now have a first look at the design of this new display thanks to an image (pictured below) shared by Max J in collaboration with SamMobile. While the image is a concept, it is based on actual information about the device’s appearance.
The new design of the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s external display is a significant upgrade, as it is noticeably larger than the display on its predecessor, the Flip 4. The image reveals that the new display covers almost the entire width and height of the outer cover, leaving only a small cutout around the two cameras and a relatively thin bezel. This is a stark contrast to the Flip 4’s 1.9-inch panel, which only takes up a small fraction of the phone’s design. Overall, the new design promises to be a major improvement, providing users with a much larger and more functional external display.
Although the exact size of the new external display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has not been officially confirmed, it is expected to measure 3.4 inches diagonally. However, based on the leaked image, the usable area of the display appears to be significantly larger than that of its predecessor. This suggests that Samsung has managed to optimize the available space on the cover to provide a more immersive and functional display for users.
According to the leakster SuperRoader, the concept images and video of the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s outer display design are highly authentic. The leakster claimed that the design depicted in the concept images and video is almost identical to the final product.
It’s worth noting that the design of the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s outer display is somewhat similar to a leaked image of Motorola’s upcoming Razr. However, the Lenovo-owned brand has taken things a step further by wrapping the foldable display around the two cameras, as opposed to simply placing it nearby. While this results in a unique aesthetic, it doesn’t add any usable space to the display. By contrast, Samsung’s design may prove to be more practical, as it appears to optimize the available space on the cover for a larger and more functional external display.
Undoubtedly, we are thrilled to see this change in the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s design, particularly following the Oppo Find N2 Flip’s demonstration that larger displays can significantly enhance the usability of this form factor. With Samsung’s emphasis on creating a more immersive and functional external display, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 seems poised to deliver an exceptional user experience.
Currently, there is no information available on whether or not the main foldable display of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will undergo any changes. However, it’s possible that Samsung may incorporate a waterdrop hinge to reduce the visibility of the crease. As a highly innovative company, Samsung is likely to reveal more details about the device’s specifications and features as we approach its release date.
As is often the case with highly anticipated devices, we can expect the rumor mill to continue churning out speculations and leaks about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the coming weeks.
