A couple of days ago, Google TV has officially announced about its “big” announcements on Facebook and Product Manager Jurek Foryciarz has also confirmed that YouTube app for Google TV is set to receive an update “in the next few days,” carrying some fantastic “big improvements” to the system. As announced earlier, There’s an OTA update slowly being pushed out for the Google TV users to upgrade the YouTube with latest features. According to Google TV Blog, the new OTA update will bring the following changes for the YouTube app.
# Overall, works faster with smoother navigation for a better experience.
# Addition of the new feature called “Discover” to let you browse by categories which range from comedy, to cooking, to news, and more.
# The app will also let you to navigate to a “find info” screen, where you can “thumbs up” a video, add it to a playlist, ability to read viewer comments about a video while the video is playing and you can also leave a comment.
# Addition of the New channel pages.
# A revamped interface.
# You can now see related videos in channels and more videos by the same user just by clicking the up or down arrows on your remote.
# You can navigate an individual channel’s playlists, videos, and subscribe to said channel quickly and easily.
The latest firmware update will arrive on all Google TV devices over the “next few weeks.” Have a Google V equipped device with you? Then an OTA update notification will pop up on the screen of your device asking you to click on OK button to download the update. If the update fails to hit your device, you can always update the Google TV manually by going to Settings –> About –> Check for update –> if found the new update accept it to download –> now hit Restart & Install button –> The device reboots now –> Follow the on-screen instructions and let it to do its task till the upgrade process finishes successfully.
