We are pretty sure that one of the new Facebook-centric phones from HTC, the HTC Chacha is on its way to hit the AT&T network. We’ve also seen this handset was making an appearance at the FCC with the proper 850/1900 bands to work on AT&T. And now the folks over the PocketNow have released the first image of the AT&T branded HTC Chacha. Here we’ve got it (left side) and this is how it is going to look like. HTC Chacha was first announced by HTC along with the HTC Salsa at February month’s MWC 2011 event, and we’ve learned that AT&T would be releasing this handset at some unknown time this year. AT&T HTC ChaCha shows July 17th on its clock, which is an indicator for the device’s possible release date, and you might aware of that the the handset was in fact unveiled on Feb 15th and you can see that date on the device on the handset (right side).
If we observe the two handsets in the above image, the Facebook button, and the QWERTY keyboard are looking a bit different – the Facebook button looks rounded on the AT&T ChaCha; the Fn, Euro and Tab symbol keys have been replaced by Alt, ‘.com’ and Shift respectively. The status bar on the top is clearly showing that the handset is running under AT&T’s 3G network. In general, the Android phone do not sport the network name in status bar.
In terms of specs, the HTC ChaCha sports a 2.6-inch 480×320 display, runs a 800 MHz processor (which was recently upgraded from the 600MHz processor), complemented by the QWERTY keyboard, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera for video chat. It comes with support for a micro-SD card, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, and will most likely run on AT&T’s 3G network, but there will be no HSPA+ support. Of course, the HTC Chacha runs under Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, with the HTC Sense user interface pre-loaded on top of it. The dedicated ‘Facebook button’ brings fast access to uploading photos or videos on the Facebook website, or to change statuses, and chat with your friends.
