HTC has just started rolling out a new OTA update for the touch & type Gingerbread powered Facebook-centric HTC Chacha handset. HTC Chacha has been officially unveiled during the February month’s MWC event 2011 in Barcelona, along with the HTC Salsa handset. Chacha has already ben launched in some territories of the world, and it is going on sale in next week by Vodafone UK.
Here we go again. This is the first OTA update to be rolling out for the HTC Chacha since its launch and the build number of the OTA update is being treated as 1.18.401.1. The latest update brings app enhancements, system improvements, and some bug fixes are also expected to be included in this update. The other details are unknown.
HTC Chacha handset’s owners will soon be getting the notification on their devices about this update or else they can move to Home –> Settings –> About Phone –> Software Information –> Software Number –> the update should show the build number as 1.18.401.1 after finishing the downloading and installation of the update. Chacha handset users are suggested to back up their whole data, and must be connected to Wi-Fi connection, before proceeding to upgrade to the latest firmware. The OTA update is expected to be pushed in stages, so users should be patient if they do no see the update on their phones in first try.
The U.S. citizens are still waiting for HTC Chacha release date. It is set to release on AT&T network at unknown time. HTC Chacha is a budget oriented Gingerbread device, having a dedicated Facebook button that allows users to share whatever they’re doing on their Facebook wall, along with a 5-megapixel camera plus Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity, and GPS.
