HTC Edge – World’s First NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-Core Phone; Really?

Are you ready for a quad-core phone? The folks over Pocket Now blog have spilled a rumor about an upcoming quad-core smartphone and leaked a press shot and possible specs of the handset. This one is obviously still very much in rumor dominion, but the source is reporting that HTC could be set to debut the world’s first Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-Core phone and it might be launched as HTC Edge. Nvidia is claiming that the Tegra 3 can offer the improved battery life over the dual-core processor.

It is still mysterious what HTC is having in store for the HTC Edge quad-core phone. It might be powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS locked inside, HTC Sense 4.0, 1GB RAM, sporting a 4.7-inch HD display, 8MP camera with HTC’s new 28-millimeter, f/2.2 lens technology, Beats Audio integration, Bluetooth 4.0, and all the regular features of an Android phone.

HTC Edge is going to be equipped with four 1.5 GHz cores of Nvidia Tegra 3 processors under the hood. And other rumored preinstalled apps are including HTC Listen music store, HTC Read bookstore, HTC Play gaming hub, as well as the HTC Watch movie portal.

Price & Availability

The first quad-core Tegra 3 processor equipped HTC Edge handset is expected to launch in late Q1 or early Q2 of 2012 at an unknown price point.
