A RUU (ROM Update Utility) carrying an early beta build of Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS for HTC Flyer had leaked out online and most of the hackers are trying to bring an easily flashable ROM of the leaked RUU for rooted users. Now, the folks over at XDA have turned that RUU into a flashable ROM and posted a couple of the screenshots, which are showing the home screen and software information of the 32GB 3G-capable HTC Flyer running on Honeycomb OS.
This ROM is not quiet ready to get pushed out to Flyer users, but according to the source, most of the apps and games work fine in portrait mode, but a few apps are being cut off in landscape mode. From the screenshots, we can say that HTC Flyer is sporting Sense UI – HTC Sense UI 1.1 for tablets and is looking similar to the version of the HTC Jetstream’s Sense UI. But if you remember, the HTC Flyer has shipped with a tablet optimized version of Sense version 2.1. The Jetstream tablet is currently available on AT&T air waves with LTE capability. We are sure that an easily-flashable zip file will be available very soon and we won’t encourage you to give a try on these ROM and RUU versions as it is highly risky and this RUU version should be ported by developers only as the process is very involved and very risky. You should also keep in mind that you would have to root it if you want to get Honeycomb prior to any official releases from the manufacturer. Hopefully, the Taiwanese manufacturer will let the HTC Flyers’ users to get their hands on the fully tablet-optimized version of Android, the Honeycomb OS in the next month or two.
