HTC Merge Gets Gingerbread Update

It looks like that the Sprint branded LG Optimus S isn’t the only handset that has been getting the Gingerbread update since yesterday. The Taiwanese manufacturer, HTC has also announced that the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update is now available for the U.S. Cellular branded HTC Merge handset. As the carrier has outed the HTC Merge in early June, it is a pretty fast move from HTC to bring the Gingerbread update for this handset.

After finishing the process of the Gingerbread update, the software version should be shown as 3.10.573.1 and you can check the software version by moving to Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> select Software Information –> and check Software Version.     • It should work under the Alltel Merge, but I am going to talk to the general manager at Alltel this afternoon. I will leave another comment after I get his opinion.
