All those ROM developers who have been waiting to update the kernel source code from HTC for the following devices need wait no more. As you all know, the Google Android operating system is based on an open source Linux kernel, but not every code of software that runs on top of that kernel is open source. So, this release will keep ROM developers very happy indeed. As you can see above, HTC has posted the 2.6.35 Kernel Source Codes on their Developer Center site for download for the following devices:
# HTC Sensation 4G.
# HTC EVO 3D.
# HTC EVO 4G.
# HTC Droid Incredible 2.
# HTC Salsa.
# HTC Chacha.
# HTC Flyer.
# HTC Desire Z.
Earlier, HTC has already released the source code for all the above handsets on July 18th, due to the huge demand from the users on the Facebook account of HTC. Late yesterday, HTC has provided Kernel Source Codes for all the same handsets in the HTC Developer Center. These kernel source codes will make it easier for developers to port custom ROMs to the HTC’s latest handsets.
You all know what is Kernel by now, don’t you? According to the Wikipedia source, the kernel is "the central component of most computer operating systems; it is a bridge between applications and the actual data processing done at the hardware level. The kernel’s responsibilities include managing the system’s resources (the communication between hardware and software components). Usually as a basic component of an operating system, a kernel can provide the lowest-level abstraction layer for the resources (especially processors and I/O devices) that application software must control to perform its function. It typically makes these facilities available to application processes through inter-process communication mechanisms and system calls."
