HTC teases U23 Pro with VIVERSE platform: A new player in the metaverse race?

HTC teases U23 Pro with VIVERSE platform

HTC, the smartphone manufacturer, has recently teased a new device that is built on the VIVERSE platform. This platform was created by the HTC Vive brand and is focused on metaverse experiences, providing users with a seamless gateway to other virtual universes. Last year, HTC launched the Desire 22, which also had a metaverse focus. This new device will likely build on the previous iteration and provide users with even more immersive experiences.

For those who are not aware, VIVERSE is a virtual reality concept developed by HTC Vive that creates a metaverse world. It offers users an immersive, limitless realm of new and exciting experiences while also serving as a gateway to other virtual universes.

To expand its VIVERSE platform further, HTC had introduced its first-ever smartphone, the Desire 22 Pro, last year. Despite appearing like any other mid-range smartphone with standard features, the Desire 22 Pro came equipped with various VR-related applications to cater to the metaverse audience.

Based on the teaser video, it’s unclear what specific features or applications the new smartphone will have, but it’s safe to assume that it will be geared towards the metaverse and VR experiences. HTC has been actively pushing into the VR space for years, and with the growing interest in metaverse technology, it makes sense for the brand to continue this focus. As more information becomes available, we will learn more about the upcoming smartphone and its capabilities.

It seems that the upcoming HTC VIVERSE smartphone could be none other than the recently leaked HTC U23 Pro. A live image of the phone surfaced online, showcasing a rectangular camera module housing three sensors, including a 108MP primary lens with OIS support. The front of the device features a center-aligned punch-hole cutout. According to a Geekbench benchmark listing, the smartphone will come with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, paired with a whopping 12GB RAM. It will also ship with the latest Android 13 OS out of the box. Other rumors suggest that the HTC U23 Pro will feature a 120Hz AMOLED display and a large battery with fast charging capabilities. It remains to be seen how the HTC VIVERSE platform will integrate with these hardware specs, but it’s clear that HTC is making a strong push into the metaverse space with its new device.
