HTC Vive XR Elite AR/VR headset goes official for $1,099

  

HTC kicks off the new year by showing off the new mixed reality headset of its Vive series. At CES 2023, HTC announced the new Vive XR Elite AR/VR headset. It is a lightweight, powerful, and extremely versatile device suitable for gaming, fitness, productivity, and other apps.

The HTC Vive XR Elite features a 2K pixels per eye, a 110 degree diagonal field of view, a 90Hz refresh rate, and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 SoC. It comes with 6 DoF Inside-out Tracking support. It holds 12 gigabytes of RAM and 128GB storage under the hood. There is also a built-in fine-adjustable IPD slider on the outside of the headset.

It weighs around 625g including the battery, which makes it heavier than the Meta Quest 2, but slightly lighter than the Quest Pro, which weighs 722 grams. The 22.6Wh battery is removable and swappable, and it can be charged using USB-C through a 30-watt fast charging adapter.

Rest of the specs are including 4x Tracking cameras, 16 MP RGB camera, Depth sensor, G-sensor, Gyroscope and Proximity sensor, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 + 6E 1, and USB 3.2 Gen-1 Type-C port. It is also built for passive media and productivity tool in a relatively lighter package. It features mixed reality functionality with color cameras and a depth sensor for improved situational awareness.

The Vive XR Elite comes packed with both physical controllers and hand-tracking to offer critical accuracy for gaming, working, or studying. The Vive Wrist Tracker is also compatible for increased hand tracking. It offers wireless PC streaming over Wi-Fi or the latets Wi-Fi 6E, with low latency and excellent graphics,. You can also quickly connect to a PC via USB-C to access PCVR content from VIVEPORT and Steam.

It also supports wireless multimedia streaming from compatible Android smartphones, to let you enjoy watching on a 300-inch personal cinema screen while wearing a headset. HTC included new content includes Demeo, Hubris, YUKI, Maestro: The Masterclass, Les Mills Body Combat, FigminXR, Unplugged: Air Guitar, Finger Gun, and also more. 

 

 

The HTC Vive XR Elite is now available for pre-order through vive.com, and other retailers. It costs a hefty price tag of $1,099. The orders will start shipping in late February 2023.
