Chinese mobile manufacturer, Huawei has officially announced the much awaited smartphone , Huawei Ascend P2 at the Mobile World Congress 2013 event in Barcelona.
The Ascend P2 is packed with a 4.7-inch IPS HD in-cell touch display which is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and LTE Cat 4 providing an ultrafast web experience with download speeds of up to 150 Mbps. The Huawei Ascend P2 is running Google’s Android 4.1 operating system, with Huawei’s own Emotion UI 1.5 and screen is covered by Gorilla Glass 2. It has a 2420 mAh battery, NFC, and more.
The Huawei Emotion UI, available on the Ascend P2 is easy to use and customize. The UniHome function combines home panels with the main menu. Emotion UI is also pre-installed with a smartphone housekeeper function to support real-time data traffic tracking, automatic blacklisting and blocking, periodical system cleaning, and spontaneous exiting of idle programs and cache cleanup.
It has a 13 MP BSI rear-facing camera with HDR and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera to support self-portrait and video shooting.
The device will be available in Black and White color. The device is expected to be available globally in the second quarter of this year. In June, the Huawei Ascend P2 will be made available for sale through Orange in France.
Besides the device, it is expected that Huawei will announce other devices including the Huawei Ascend P2 Mini and a new Windows Phone 8 handset similar to the 6.1-inch Ascend Mate Android smartphone during the event. We’ll let you know whether the manufacturer will unveil the devices or not. Although there is no further info regarding the official price tag of the device yet, you can expect it will be available with a retail price of €400 which is around $522.
