We are just one day ahead of Barnes & Nobles’ press event in New York City to introduce its new black and white NOOK and we have a new eReader edition from another manufacturer, Kobo. Late yesterday, Kobo has officially introduced its latest eBook reader caleld Kobo eReader Touch Edition. This Touch Edition is a black & white e-reader device.

Kobo eReader Touch Edition measuring 10mm thickness and comes with new & improved free Kobo Desktop Software, and sporting a 6-inch “Real Touch” E Ink touchscreen display with 16 shades of grey, featuring Neonode’s new zForce™ infrared touch technology to make you feel reading a real book. You can swipe to turn pages, highlight a phrase, zoom into an image or increase the font size. This device is powered by new Freescale i.MX508 processor for ultra fast page turning and low power consumption.

Kobo eReader Touch Edition is having 2 font styles and 12 font sizes, USB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, and it comes pre-loaded with 15 hand-picked free previews of the new books and you can also browse and preview millions of other titles in the Kobo store. It is having 1GB or over 1,000 eBooks storage, and micro-SD card slot for memory expansion support for up to 32GB (Up to 30,000 eBooks), and it gives battery life of up to 10 days or 10,0000 page turns, and it weighs in at 200 grams.

In another related news, Kobo has dropped the previous-generation reader’s price to $99.99.

You can pre-order the Kobo eReader Touch Edition at Best Buy, Walmart, Borders and Indigo retail stores for $129.99, and it will be available for in-store purchase beginning early June and will begin shipping to retailers worldwide in July, and it includes a $10 Gift Card. The takers can choose from Lilac, Blue, Silver and Black color variants of this device.
