Lenovo’s cloud gaming Chromebook now available for $399 at Walmart

 

Earlier this week, Google unveiled three new cloud gaming Chromebooks this week from three different brands – There’s the Acer Chromebook 516 GE, ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip, and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Gaming Chromebook. These devices were designed in a way to take full advantage of the gaming library up in the cloud

The entry level IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook laptop from Lenovo is now available from Walmart in the United States, priced at $399. This is the cheapest gaming Chromebook laptop, yet it features a 16:10 16-inch WXQGA (2560 x 1600) IPS display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, as well as 350 nits of brightness and 100% RGB. It is powered by Intel Core i3-1215U processor with Intel UHD (i3) or Iris Xe GPU, 8GB RAM, and 512GB storage.  

It also has a 4-zone RGB keyboard with 1.5 mm key travel and full number pad, 1080p webcam with privacy shutter, 2 ports – 2x USB-C, 2x USB Type A, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5, 11 hours of battery lie, Intel UHD (i3) or Iris Xe, Quad Waves audio speakers. Along with the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i gaming Chromebook, Walmart is offering a 3-month free trial of Nvidia GeForce Ultimate (costs $59.97) for free. 

Open to participants who have purchased and activated an eligible Chromebook between October 11, 2022 and March 31, 2023, or while supplies last. To activate the offers, open the Explore app on your eligible gaming Chromebook, click on the “Perks” tab, find the offers, and click “Get Perk” to collect your promo code and follow the instructions to redeem.

ChromeOS has been optimized for cloud gaming to the chip level. Based on the independent testing from GameBench, Google claims the gaming Chromebooks to “deliver a smooth, responsive gaming experience with 120 frames per second and console-class input latency of under 85ms.”
