Several mobile manufacturers already announced back in March that different devices powered by a low-cost quad-core MediaTek chipset will be introduced very soon. Sony Mobile already announced that it will be introducing a 5-inch entry level handset powered by the chipset in the third quarter of this year. Lenovo is also one the manufacturers to use the chipset. A 5.3-inch Lenovo S920 smartphone equipped with MediaTek’s Quad-core MT6589 processor clocked at 1.2GHz is already up for sale on Lenovo’s official website in China. This is not the only smartphone equipped with the chipset that Lenovo is planning to introduce in the market.
Today, Lenovo Mobile Communication Technology has officially announced the Lenovo P780 smartphone which is also powered by MediaTek MT6589 processor. The smartphone will be running Goggle’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean flavor operating system out of the box.
The 5.0-inch Lenovo P780 smartphone will sport a high definition display with a 720×1280 pixels of resolution and the 8-megapixel camera with CMOS image sensor on the rear of the device will also be an alluring feature of the smartphone. Capacity of internal storage is 8GB along with 1GB of RAM. The internal storage of the smartphone will apparently be expandable via microSD slot up to 32GB or 64GB but the manufacturer hasn’t officially confirmed regarding the expansion slot.
Besides the aforementioned technical features, one more mind blowing feature is that the Lenovo P780 supports a large capacity 4000mAh battery.
The Lenovo P780 will be compatible with W-CDMA/GSM networks and it is expected to be launched in China in last week of this month.
