Yesterday, Motorola updated its support documents for the Motorola Atrix MB860 handset with info of an OTA update that should include a handful of improvements for the device. The latest firmware update will bring the new software version Andorid 2.3.6 Gingerbread with new build number 4.5.141 for the Motorola Atrix handset. Here is the full changelog of the software update 4.5.141:
# Addition of the latest Google Android security fixes.
# Improvements to memory function as it relates to media applications.
# The device will no longer reboot when it is impacted by heavy loading or high temperatures.
# You can now launch voice command from Bluetooth enabled headset when phone is asleep.
# Improved Wi-Fi settings to deliver better overall consumer experience as well as to make it easier to use Mobile Hotspot with your handset.
# Improvements to text messaging capability to deliver better user experience.
# You can maintain all phone book contacts after the OTA upgrade.
A notification alert will pop up on your handset’s screen asking you to download the update. If the update doesn’t hit you handset yet, you should be able to pull this update now in the Settings –> About Phone –> select System Updates button to check if it’s available on your end –> if you found the the availability of an update –> Hit Download button –> Select Install button after finishing the downloading process of the update –> Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the upgrade process till the device reboots automatically –> That’s it. In the final step, the Motorola Atrix handset should be upgraded to 4.5.141 successfully.
Please note that We started hearing word that this update will break the root of your Motorola Atrix handset. So you need to use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper from the Android Market and use it to re-root After upgrading to 4.5.141 software version.
