Motorola Edge+ (2023) Debuts in the US with Competitive $800 Price

Motorola Edge+ (2023)

After a long wait, Motorola has finally released a flagship phone in the US market. The newly launched Motorola Edge+ 2023 is equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and boasts an impressive 165Hz display. What’s more, the phone is priced significantly lower than its competitors such as the Pixel 7 Pro, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In spite of its reputation for producing affordable phones, Motorola’s flagship offerings for 2023 are nothing short of impressive, with the Moto Edge+ leading the pack. Following closely on the heels of the Lenovo ThinkPhone debut, the Edge+ is being released in North America with top-of-the-line specifications and features at a price point that seriously undercuts the competition. At just $799, the Edge+ is a serious contender against the likes of the other Android biggies in the market.

Moreover, the Motorola Edge+ (2023) is not only affordable but also boasts some impressive design elements. The phone features a back panel made of “velvet anti-glare glass inlay,” giving it an elegant frosted appearance. Meanwhile, the front of the device boasts a 6.67-inch display with a curved panel that makes it nearly borderless.

In addition to the 165Hz refresh rate, the Full HD+ pOLED display of the Motorola Edge+ (2023) also supports HDR10+ content, making it ideal for streaming high-quality video content. The dual stereo speakers on the device, along with the Dolby Atmos support, ensure that the audio experience is equally impressive. For added durability, the display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, which offers superior scratch and impact resistance. The phone itself is also IP68 rated for dust and water resistance, making it suitable for use in various environments.

The Edge+ (2023) boasts the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the latest in Qualcomm’s lineup, which has received positive feedback in the flagship phones of 2023. Along with this, the phone is equipped with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a choice of either 256GB or 512GB of USF 4.0 storage, ensuring smooth and efficient performance.

The Motorola Edge+ (2023) appears to be a rebranded version of the global Moto Edge 40 Pro with a different name. However, Motorola has claimed that the Edge+ has a larger 5,100mAh battery compared to the 4,600mAh battery of the Edge 40 Pro. Although both phones share the same dimensions, indicating this could be a mistake. If accurate, this would make the Edge+ (2023) the Motorola flagship with the largest battery capacity.

The handset may not have 125W charging like the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, but the 68W wired charging is still very fast. It also supports wireless charging up to 15W and includes 5W reverse-wireless charging.

The camera capabilities of the Motorola Edge+ (2023) are quite impressive, as the phone features a triple camera setup with a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera with a 1/1.55-inch sensor and OIS and “all-pixel focus.” Next to it is a 12MP f/1.6 portrait camera with a 2x zoom and a 1/2.93-inch sensor. The final camera is a 50MP f/2.2 autofocusing ultrawide lens with macro capabilities and a 1/2.76-inch sensor. The phone can capture 8K video at 30fps, 4K at 60fps, or 4K HDR10+ at 30fps, and it also comes with imaging features like Night Vision and Auto Focus Tracking.

In addition, the phone features the Horizon Lock Stabilization feature, which allows users to capture ultra-stable video that is locked to the horizon, making it an ideal option for people who enjoy outdoor activities like skiing.
