Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus To Feature 1.5GHz T1 OMAP 4460 Dual-Core Chip?

Google's Samsung Nexus Prime / Galaxy Nexus

Yes, Google’s Samsung-made Galaxy Nexus / Nexus Prime handset’s launch has delayed. But that doesn’t mean the information surrounding it is going to stop. There’s more controversy surrounding the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS powered phone. The latest rumor is about the processor of the handset. Once we heard that Google was working that TI chips. Fuelling to this unconfirmed rumor, a trusted source has suggested that the Nexus Prime would feature a dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor. We’ve already heard about 1.2GHz and 1.5GHz figures regarding the processor type.

Samsung should have launched the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus right after the announcement of Apple iPhone 4S. Something BIG is coming…. but we’re not sure when. Engadget claims that the Samsung Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich joint announcement will be made on October 19th.

    • dude if you need a better camera than that then buy a stand alone camera!!! i am tired of hearing a 5mp camera isn’t enough,it isn’t enough for what??!! that is way more than enough to do anything you should want to do with a camera on a friggin phone!! you are supposed to use your phone camera for entertainment..if you are taking high def snapshots for a work purpose than again..BUY A CAMERA!!!! just fill us all in on what you are doing with your camera phone that you need a 8mp/12mp camera on it! so what you are saying is if it has a 5mp camera you wouldn’t buy the best phone on the market with insane specs(other than YOUR definition of a good camera).. ridiculous! and it will KILL the vigor in performance my friend..trust me!! the 1.5ghz snapdragon is nowhere near the TI OMAP 4460 even at 1.2ghz

  1. its been beaten to death that megapixel count means exactly dick when it comes to image quality. Its humorous to see so many uneducated people in the subject cry about pixel ratings. The actually IMPORTANT specs are the ccd sensors and the optics (lens). I dont care if it has a 3MP camera, just hoping it uses a good sensor with a nice lens (like the capable f/2.4 on the iphone 4s for example).

  2. The way you look at the processor is the way that I look at the camera part of he phone. I have noticed an increase an increase in the quality of pix with each new phone that I have purchased. I’m not gonna carry around a point and shoot to capture candid shots, so that’s out. Don’t know how a big lug like me wound up with such beautiful wife and daughters (yes, I’m biased/insert hater comments), but I want the best pix available from a phone and there’s no magic hardware to make 5mp better than the best available right now. Any of the newer top line processors will be great and while there may be a considerable spread in benchmarks, the real world performance differences will be barely noticeable the vast majority of the time. And lastly, I’m sick to death of the iLemmings bragging on their screen resolution and camera and video capabilities and I want to shut them up good.
