Nokia Lumia 920’s WP8 ‘Portico’ Update Coming This Month

The global versions of the HTC Windows Phone 8X handsets have already been upgraded with a new firmware update v10211, fixing reboot problems and Wi-Fi bug. Nokia Lumia 920 owners were also supposed to get the same update, code named as “Portico.”

A couple of days ago, NokiaCareUS Twitter account has officially confirmed that the Redmond company is currently testing the update for Windows Phone 8 handsets and Finnish mobile maker has assured that the update will be rolled out to the handsets this month. The update should be pushing out in the next week and it will fix the random resets, and it adds the Keep Wi-Fi alive feature, which lets WLAN connection remain connected when the phone’s display is OFF.

The Portico update also bring s number of improvements and a set of new features including SMS Drafts, ‘Select All’ SMS message with delete option, and ‘SMS Call Reject’ feature. Users can create SMS Drafts, which is a nice feature texting freaks. You can also reject phone calls by replying with a text message. When you get a phone call, you will now see three options – Ignore, and Answer, and Text (new addition). If you select Text, you will be redirected to a new screen with two-touch pre-written replies (“I’ll call you back” or “Please Text me”) to incoming calls.

It also provide an option to type your own text directly and you can manually a couple of own SMS messages in Phone settings by heading into Settings –> Applications –> Phone area –> Scroll to the bottom and edit pre-made SMS replies. If you remember, Windows Mobile OS had the reply-with-text option when Microsoft first launched it in the last decade. There’s another new addition called ‘SMS Select’, which lets you to delete all messages with ‘select all’ option at once in just 2 steps.


Microsoft has started pushing out the Windows Phone 7.8 update for the selected Nokia Lumia 800 handsets.
