How To Turn On Car Crash Detection Feature on Pixel Phones

Apple has been working on a car crash detection feature since last year and it finally made it official at its latest event for its latest Apple Watch Series 8 and the new Apple iPhone 14 devices. However, the car crash detection feature has already been adopted by some of the Pixel phones for two years now since 2019. This feature detects if you ever happened to be in a car crash and your device will automatically initiate an emergency call 911 for emergency services or emergency contacts saved on the phone.

I believe Google always puts value on its smartphones’ software, not hardware, through such special features. This should be termed the life-saving feature introduced by Google. A couple of years ago, A Reddit user (u/postnospam) by the name of Chuck Walker shared his experience about he got survived with Car Crash Detection on his Pixel phone after being trapped in his overturned car for hours. Such features have let the Pixel fan-goers always take up pixel phones over iPhone or Samsung. It is available within the “Safety” app on every Pixel since the Pixel 3.

The car Crash Detection feature is nice to have, do you think you need it?

How to turn on Car Crash Detection on your Pixel phones:

Here’s what you’ll need to do. open up the “Safety and emergency” app in Settings on your Pixel phone, and turn on Car Crash Detection you have to enable a few permissions to finish the process.

Unfortunately, I can’t enable it on my Pixel 5 as it is not available in India.  Car Crash Detection is available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Spain, and Taiwan only. I wholeheartedly agree it needs to be available worldwide. It also will be better if OEMs also implement this feature on non-Pixel phones asap.
