Samsung Acclaim from US Cellular gets Android 2.2 Froyo update

US Cellular has now announced that its QWERTY-slider handset Samsung Acclaim is now ready to receive the Android 2.2 Froyo update. Remember that you can’t do this over-the-air update, but some user friendly instructions are provided to get you the Froyo dessert.

Some of the new Improvements with Froyo Update

    • # Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot – Share high-speed connectivity with up to five other devices.
      # Android Market Updates
      # Microsoft Exchange support

      • # Improved Home Screen – Shortcuts for instant access to phone functions, apps and the web browser
      • # Lock Screen – For entering a numeric pin or alphanumeric password.
    • # Card App Storage – Save to and run apps from your memory card
    • # Improved Performance – Faster website loading and smoother multitasking
      • # Onscreen buttons provide easy access to a new UI for controlling zoom, flash, white balance and etc
      • # Camcorder – Improves setting for video size/quality for MMS
      • # Multiple languages have been added to the keyboard.
      • # My Contacts Backup, Your Navigator Deluxe, City ID, QuikOffice versions updated.
        # More integrated services like GoogleQuickSearchBox, GenieWidget, Latitude, Navigator, Places

Along with these improvements, some more modifications will take placeNew Clock application, Voice i/p & o/p menu instead of Text to Speech menu and preloaded apps has been removed but they can be downloaded later.
