Last month, Samsung unveiled a significant camera-enhancing update for the Galaxy S23 series in South Korea, which subsequently became available in Europe and India. Currently, this update is being released in the United States for both carrier-locked and unlocked versions of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. With this update, Samsung is further improving the already impressive camera capabilities of its latest flagship devices, providing users with an enhanced photography experience.
Samsung’s latest update brings firmware version S91xUSQU1AWC8 for carrier-locked devices and S91xU1UEU1AWC8 for unlocked models. This update includes the April 2023 Android security patch, as well as various camera enhancements and fixes that Samsung previously announced.
The update brings significant camera improvements, such as swift deletion of images and videos captured seconds ago. It also allows the camera to capture photos as soon as the shutter button is pressed, regardless of the autofocus status. In addition, the Camera Assistant update now has the option to prioritize focus over speed (ON) or vice versa.
Samsung guarantees that the Galaxy S23’s ultrawide camera will now capture sharper videos in low-light conditions in Super Steady Mode. The company also advises users that Super Steady Mode needs more light to capture high-quality videos. Moreover, videos captured in 1080p 60fps and Auto FPS modes are now smoother. Samsung resolved a bug that prevented the phone from recognizing faces after a video call.
The company has also addressed the sharpness and banding issues in the sky when 50MP and 200MP modes were used for capturing images with Galaxy S23. When Night Mode is disabled, the camera should be able to capture images with better quality. Lastly, Samsung resolved the blur issue for moving subjects, further improving the camera’s performance.
