Are you getting bored of your Samsung Galaxy Tab running with Android 2.2 Froyo and looking for Gingerbread upgrade on your tablet? Good news is that this won’t take too long. Samsung is expected to roll out the Android Gingerbread update for the Galaxy Tab P1000 very soon.
Folks over Androidiani forums (Italian based) are reporting that, Samsung has already started rolling-out an update to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for the original 7-incher Samsung Galaxy Tab.
The current Gingerbread update in Italy is available via Samsung Kies. Here is the firmware information of Galaxy Tab after upgrading to Gingerbread update:
Firmware Version: 2.3.3
Base-band version: P1000XXJPZ
Kernel Version: 126.96.36.199 – if infra-SEP-52 @ # 2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
All the carriers in the U.S. have slashed the price of Galaxy Tab P1000 tablets, and it may just be the time to buy this tablet from one of the carriers, if at all the Gingerbread update roll out happens soon.
It is being heard that Samsung Galaxy Tab won’t be upgraded with Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, and the newly launched Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Hope we will get Gingerbread for at least Galaxy Tab, which is still running on Froyo.
