Samsung Infuse 4G

Great news for the AT&T branded Samsung Infuse 4G owners. Finally, after a long wait, the Samsung Infuse 4G handset is finally receiving its most awaited software, providing users an official route to Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS. Along with the Gingerbread goodies, the latest software brings Download Manager, improved power management, new widgets, and a few other features you may not necessarily care about. Back in late September, an unofficial Android 2.3.5 I997UCKI4 ROM leaked for the Samsung Infuse 4G handset. Here is the full changelog of the Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread update for the Samsung Infuse 4G handset:

# Improved Copy and Paste functionality.
# Redesigned Multi Touch Software Keyboard.
# Download manager for long running HTTP downloads
# Improved power management and application control.
# Notification Shade: “Flight Mode” added (“Silent” removed).
# Addition of the new Fonts options – Choco Cooky, Cool Jazz, Rosemary.
# Android Keyboard with Wider Spaced keys and Quick Keys at the top.
# The name of the content provider will be listed on the widget list along with the widget name.
# Addition of the Traffic (Android) widget.
# Addition of the Google Books.
# Promotional pre-load of Angry Birds removed.

It looks like AT&T branded Samsung Infuse 4G owners are required to upgrade their handsets using Samsung Kies software. AT&T has provided a special page on Samsung’s website to download the Gingerbread update for Infuse 4G handset. But the page is not working right now as it is redirecting to “Page Not Found” error. AT&T hasn’t mentioned if the Gingerbread update is also being rolled out through OTA (over-the-air) process or not. But, we will inform as soon as the AT&T provided Samsung Page runs live. So, stay tuned for further details.
