Sony is expected to unveil its next flagship phone lineup for 2023 during the MWC in Barcelona at the end of this month. Out of all the high-end phones Sony plans to release this year, we are looking at the alleged Sony Xperia 1 V forth the first time. The phone didn’t get any leaks as other upcoming devices, but now it’s breaking cover. Latest evidence is piling up in favor of an imminent release of this handset.
If you were wondering what the upcoming Xperia flagship phone is going to look like, you’re in luck because today we get the first leaked image purportedly depicting the Xperia 1 V. While we wait for its official launch, the first live image of the Xperia 1 V has appeared on the internet. The leaked image shows some of the changes that will be adopting on the Xperia 1 V as compared to the Sony Xperia 1 IV , which debuted in May 2022.
If you compare the camera island to the Xperia 1 IV’s (pictured above), you can observe that the ToF camera and the RGB IR sensor are disappeared. The slightly protruding camera island of the Xperia 1 V has three cameras, an LED flash, a microphone, and ZEISS branding. The LED flash has moved into the island in the Xperia 1 V, placed above the second camera module, whereas it was outside the island, above it, in the predecessor model.
You can spot the periscope zoom lens in the third camera ring. There’s also an NFC logo on the right side of the camera island, which implies that the leaked image belongs to the Xperia 1 V’s international version. The Japanese domestic version will have the Felica logo instead. The Sony logo can also be seen on the rear shell of the device.
As per the prolific Chinese leakster on Weibo, the Xperia 1 V will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The source also claims that it would be the thinnest smartphone to use that SoC. Sony is also expected to adopt some kind of cooling solution for this device. A previous report claimed that the Xperia 1 V may come equipped with LG Innotek’s “Optical Telephoto Zoom Module,” which may offer up to 9x zoom.
The Sony Xperia 1 V is expected to be showcased at MWC 2023, alongside the rumored Xperia 5 V. Both devices will use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets. More information will be revealed in the coming days. So, stay tuned.
