Sony Xperia 1 V may release in May, except for China

New information has been leaked regarding the release date of Sony’s upcoming flagship model for 2023, the Xperia 1 V. It appears that Sony has not yet released their usual teaser for the upcoming Xperia 1 V, indicating that the official announcement of the new flagship model is still a few weeks away, likely not until late April.

Based on the latest information, it appears that the Xperia 1 V will be released in mid-May. It is unclear which specific countries or regions will receive the device during this time, but last year’s Xperia 1 IV was released on June 1st in Hong Kong and Taiwan, with domestic carrier versions coming out on June 3rd. This suggests that the Xperia 1 V will be available slightly earlier than its predecessor.

However, the release date for the Chinese mainland version of the Xperia 1 V is expected to be significantly delayed, with a launch now anticipated for July or August.

Predicting the release schedule for Sony’s Xperia flagship models in mainland China has proven challenging in the past, with some releases coming earlier than in other regions, while others have been delayed. In contrast, Hong Kong versions have usually been released earlier.

Sony’s Xperia smartphones are known for having a longer period between their announcement and release dates. However, last year’s Xperia 1 IV was announced on May 11th and released in early June in several countries, including Japan. This meant that the gap between the announcement and release was only around three weeks, which was significantly shorter than previous models.

According to new information, the Xperia 1 V is expected to be released sometime in mid-May. Although it is unknown which countries or regions will be included in the initial release, the Xperia 1 IV was released in Hong Kong and Taiwan on June 1st and in Japan on June 3rd, so the Xperia 1 V may be released slightly earlier than that.

However, the release of the Chinese version of Xperia 1 V seems to be delayed until July or August, which is a common occurrence for the release of Xperia flagship models in China.

As for the Xperia 1 V for the domestic market, three models for NTT Docomo, au, and Softbank have already passed FCC certification. Meanwhile, certification for the US version has not yet been confirmed. There is a possibility that the domestic carrier versions will be released first, but this has not been confirmed yet.

According to recent rumors, Sony may be planning to release not just the Xperia 1 V, but also another high-end model, the Xperia 5 V, at the same time. While it’s certainly interesting to hear leaked information about the potential release dates for the Xperia 1 V, it’s always wise to take rumors like this with a grain of salt. It’s important to remember that until Sony releases an official statement about the launch details for their latest flagship model, we can’t be completely sure about anything. It’s always best to wait for the official word before getting too excited or making any concrete plans.
