At Mobile World Congress vent today, Sony has just taken the wraps off its new Android OS powered handsets – Sony Xperia U and Sony Xperia P. Both these handsets are also known Sony ST25i Kumquat and Sony LTT22i Nypon respectively. Both the Xperia P and Xperia U handsets are having illuminated bar at the bottom side, just like the high-end spec’d Sony Xperia S handset,which has been announced at this year’s CES 2012 event.
Sony Xperia U
The Sony Xperia U handset comes with a 3.5-inch Reality Display with FWGA resolution, a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, which is having 2D and 3D image capturing capability. Xperia U’s transparent illuminated bar changes its color to match the color of displayed pictures on the handset. On Sony Xperia U handset, you can move from the lock screen and capture the pictures in just 2 seconds.
Unfortunately, Sony Xperia U handset will be shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, and there will be a set of preinstalled apps – new album app and new video and music players. There is now word on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade possibility in the near future for the Xperia U handset.
Sony Xperia P
The Sony Xperia P handset is carrying some exciting details. Xperia P handset will be shipped in three different colered variants, packing an aluminium brushed body, sporting a 4-inch WhiteMagic display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear-facing camera, NFC functionality, HDMI port. Sony Xperia P handset’s camera capable of booting really fast straight from the lock screen.
Sony is claiming that the Xperia P handset’s 4-inch WhiteMagic display delivers outstanding brightness, which is superior to that of any other smartphone on the market today. Expect this handset to ship in the middle of the 2nd quarter of this year.
