Sony: Xperia T, TX & V Will Get Jelly Bean Update By February or March

Jelly Bean Updates For Sony Xperias

Sony has confirmed a set of Xperia handsets will be upgraded to the latest version of the Android OS in early 2013. The manufacturer will roll out Android 4.1.x Jelly Bean update for the Sony Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V handsets sometime in February or March. This is matching the “mid-Q1 2013” timeframe that they announced in late October.

Sony Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go, Xperia J, and Xperia S are the other handsets that will be upgraded in the coming months. Xperia P, Xperia J and Xperia go will receive Jelly Bean updates by the end of March. Following these handsets, Sony will release Jelly Bean upgrades for Xperia Ion, Xperia S and Xperia SL “in the subsequent weeks.” But, there’s no official word on exact release dates for updates. Of course, Sony has already promised that “we’ll get to it when we get to it.”

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update brings Google Now, Project Butter, expandable & actionable notifications, automatically resizeable widgets, revamped voice search with true voice-dictation, better HTML5 video experience with improved rendering speed, improved text input, better Javascript performance, support for more languages, improved keyboard typing with better and more accurate predictive input, and more.

Unfortunately, all the 2011 Xperia phones, including Xperia miro (which was released in September 2011), Xperia tipo, Xperia U, and Xperia sola will stick on Android 4.x Ice Cream Sandwich builds and Xperia arc, Xperia mini pro handsets also won’t be getting Android 4.0 Jelly Bean. No Jelly Bean love for them.
