Samsung Epic 4G EL30 Update

Just now, we reported about 4.67.651.3 software update for the HTC EVO 4G handset over the Sprint network. Sprint is also rolling out an update for the Samsung Epic 4G handset. The latest firmware update will bring the new software version no. S:D700.0.5S.EL30. According to the reports, this update is expected to remove some of the bloatware the phone first came with. The new update EL30 brings Speaker feedback fix for a bug that causes audio distortion. In early November, Samsung Epic 4G handset has been upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread update with new build number E122. Here is the full list of the changes that are rolling out along with the update EL30:

# Security update.
# The QIK and Asphalt 5 applications are no longer preloaded.
# If you hit any of these apps, you will be redirected to the Android Market to download and install the full application.
# After installing the QIK app, you will need to login using your original account information or create a new account.  All contacts should remain intact.
# After the completing the Asphalt 5 installation, previous game play data (ex. levels) will not be retained.

We are not hearing any sings about the Carrier IQ removal for the Samsung Epic 4G handset as of now.

Samsung Spic 4G handsets users should be seeing the notification alerts on their handset asking you to install it. If the update fails to make its way to your handset, you can force the update by heading over to Home Screen –> Menu –> Settings –> About phone –> tap System updates –> and hit Update Android button –> If the update is available –> Update will be downloaded automatically –> Follow the on-screen instructions and let the upgrade process finishes successfully. That’s it. Your handset will be successfully upgraded to EL30 software version.
