Yesterday we saw the launch event of the new version of Android mobile platform, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and no need to mention that every Android handset owner is hoping to get some ICS love for their handsets. T-Mobile has started rolling out an OTA update for the HTC-made T-Mobile G2 handset. Don’t expect to get Android 4.0 ICS with this update. The new firmware update for T-Mobile G2, is carrying the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update along with the following improvements.
# Google Security Patch.
# Google Skymap improvements.
# Battery life improvements.
# Data connection while roaming domestically.
T-Mobile G2 users that’d like to check for the update manually should head into Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates and hit Download button. Doing so won’t necessarily make the update magically appear on your phone, but you should try out this manual process of pulling the update so that the new firmware update will make way to handset from the sky.
The new firmware update is carrying the Software Version number 2.16.531.5. Don’t forget to take a back up of your phone and microSD card before proceeding to download the the latest update.
