Back in July 2012, T-Mobile has launched the HTC-made myTouch 4G Slide handset as the successor of the T-Mobile myTouch 4G handset. The carrier is now rolling out a new software update for the T-Mobile myTouch 4h Slide handsets. The new firmware update bumps the software version up to 1.55.531.3 from 1.28.531.9 or 1.28.531.10 of the handset and it is carrying a few handset-specific tweaks, while the Android OS version still remains at v2.3.4.
Here’s the changelog of the 1.55.531.3 software update for T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide:
- # Google security fix.
- # Wi-Fi Calling Improvement.
- # Improvements to Genius Button.
- # Improvements to Netflix app experience.
T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide owners will get notification of the latest OTA update on your handset asking you to accept the download. The OTA is pretty light, coming in at around 25MB. T-Mobile has also provided a cheat sheet on its website with instructions on how to manually check for the update. If the update fails to reach your handset, you can grab the update by heading over to Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> HTC Software Update –> and tap Check Now button –> Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the update and wait 10 to 15 minutes till upgrade process finishes successfully.
