Tecno, the Chinese smartphone maker, held a launch event in India yesterday (April 11) to unveil its latest offering, the Phantom V Fold. This foldable smartphone is the first of its kind from the company and had previously been showcased at MWC 2023 earlier this year. The device will now be available for purchase in India from today onwards.
According to Tecno, the Phantom V Fold boasts an aerospace-grade drop-shaped hinge with an exclusive fixed-axis rotate and slide technology, along with a self-developed reverse snap structure that ensures a smooth and crease-free folding experience. The company claims that the device has high durability, withstanding over 200,000 folds.
The micro-curved secondary screen and back panel make it easy to grip, while the black variant features skin-friendly classic leather and the white variant comes crafted with renewable organic silicone leather. The device runs on the HiOS Fold with Split Screen, Parallel Windows, and drag-and-drop functionality optimized for foldable screens.

The launch of the Phantom V Fold marks a significant milestone for Tecno, as it enters the foldable smartphone market. The Phantom V Fold comes with a starting price of ₹89,999 for the 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant, which is currently the most affordable foldable smartphone in the market. The 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage model is priced at ₹99,999 and comes in black and white color options.
As an incentive for pre-booking at offline stores, customers will receive a free trolley bag worth ₹5,000, subject to availability. Pre-booking for the Phantom V Fold at offline stores will begin on April 22.
To sweeten the deal, Tecno is also providing a free protection plan worth ₹8,888, which includes a one-time screen replacement within 6 months, free pick-up and drop service, and a 1-year extended warranty, for those who purchase the Phantom V Fold. The Phantom V Fold boasts a large 7.85-inch AMOLED LPTO foldable screen with a 2K+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and an 8:7 aspect ratio. It also features a 6.42-inch AMOLED cover display with Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The foldable smartphone runs on Android 13 OS and HiOS 13 Fold UI.
Under the hood, the Tecno Phantom V Fold is powered by the Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset and comes with LPDDR5x RAM, up to 9 GB of virtual RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. The device packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging, providing an excellent battery backup.
For photography enthusiasts, the Phantom V Fold features a 32-megapixel front-facing camera and a 16-megapixel camera on the foldable screen for video calls and selfies. On the rear, it has a triple camera setup that includes a 50-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom.
