Good news for the owners of the old 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets. Verizon has posted a couple of PDF docs on the support page portion of their official website regarding the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread update for Galaxy Tab, which which would cause anyone to believe they’re getting closer to release some Gingerbread goodness onto the masses for Galaxy Tab. The update is carrying the normal Gingerbread goodies along with other enhancements and a few bug fixes, bringing the new build number i800.E104.

# Improved word selection and Copy/Paste functionality.
# Addition of Download Manager App to manage the downloads from web browsing, email attachments, from other apps.
# Addition of the ‘View Data Plan’ icon so that users can adjust their plans accordingly. Month-to-Month users can continue to use the ‘My Verizon Mobile’ app to check the data usage.
# Addition of the ‘Verizon Data Service” feature to let the users view their current plan and usage, so that so that they won’t go over.

# Google security patches.
# Widgets will resize to reflect landscape and portrait mode more accurately.

The update will come over-the-air (OTA), that means the Samsung Galaxy Tab owners will receive a notification on your tablet that the update is available. Then you’ll be able to choose to download and install it. That’s it, if you’re a Galaxy Tab owner, now you should be taking a part of the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread club. Don’t forget to take a full backup of the device, before you proceed to download the update.
If the update hasn’t yet hit your tablets, You can able to get it manually. You can check for the OTA update by going into your Home –> Application –> Settings –> About Device –> System Updates –> Download –> tap Install Now button. Installation should start now –> Press Restart & Install button –> Done. The Gingerbread flavor should be ready now to taste on your tablet. After finishing the installation of the update, the software version should be shown as i800.E104. The entire update process should take about 12-15 minutes.
